5 Reasons to have a Mobile Friendly Website

Having an unresponsive website, very simply, is self-sabotage to your business.  You’re lessening your chances of new perspectives finding you, you’re discrediting all other efforts you’ve made towards developing your brand’s image, and you’re definitely not giving your viewers or customers a reason to come back to your site.  There are zero excuses for not having a mobile-friendly website in 2017, we’ve assembled our top 5 reasons here.

  1.  Because statistically, you’re reading this from your phone or iPad.
    The percentage varies by source, but it is said that somewhere between 50-70% of all website traffic these days comes from mobile devices and tablets.
  1.  Because first impressions count.  (And every one after.)
    Your website should help your business, not hinder it. Unless obsolete is the look you’re going for, your non-responsive website is a turn-off to visitors in the same way you’d be to a potential employer by showing up to an interview in your pajamas (or hungover or whatever’s situationally inappropriate) – it shows you don’t care. Responsive sites are not the future, they are the standard and today they’re expected.

  1.  So people don’t hate you.
    If your website is not mobile-friendly, it immediately creates a frustrating user experience and deters users from visiting your website again.  This becomes increasingly prevalent on sites where users are asked to submit forms or make purchases.  More online purchases are made from tablets and mobile devices than they are from traditional desktop or laptop computers.  Plain and simple, by not having a responsive design, you are losing business and people (might) hate you.

    Google and other major online search engines prioritize mobile-optimized websites within search results. Non mobile-friendly websites are pushed down, sometimes even buried pages deep. If your website is lost in the long list of search results, those keywords that would normally pertain to your website & your company’s business will do nothing to point potential customers to your website.  What’s more to be said here is that search is the most common starting point for mobile research, making your Google positioning of huge importance to reaching that market.
  1.  Because getting a responsive website doesn’t have to be expensive.
    Utilizing a popular CMS, like WordPress, allows you to take advantage of preexisting responsive templates. These themes detect what type of device or browser the site is being viewed from and the layout ‘responds’ accordingly. One design reformats itself, which means, less work for you or less work that you pay someone else to do. The real beauty of this is that many of these themes are updated by their original developers whenever new devices or browser updates are available.  This means that whenever the next iPhone or tablet is comes out, your theme (and thus your website) doesn’t need to be redesigned to remain responsive with every screen!
